CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson confirms a Myrtle Beach man pleaded guilty for the April 2016 aggravated assault of a woman.

According to a press release from the solicitor’s office, Thuong Nguyen, 41, of Myrtle Beach, pleaded guilty to assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature before the Honorable Circuit Court Judge Steven H. John.

On the date of the incident, Nguyen entered the victim’s residence through a bedroom window. Once inside the residence, Nguyen presented a knife, grabbed the victim and told her friend to leave or he would kill her.

Nguyen then held the knife to the victim’s face while repeatedly striking her in the face with his other hand until she lost consciousness. While the victim was unconscious the defendant sexually assaulted her.

“I am so thankful that we were able to achieve justice for the victim in this case,” Walter said after sentencing.

Judge John sentenced the defendant to 15 years in prison followed by five years of probation.
