Myrtle Beach man arrested after police chase driving stolen car full of stolen property

LONGS, SC (WBTW) – Horry County police say that one man was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property following a chase with police this weekend.

At about 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to Checkerberry Lane after a call about a suspicious vehicle.

Police located the white Ford pick-up and attempted to stop it but the driver refused to stop. After a short chase, the driver abandoned his vehicle and tried to run, but was apprehended.

After the chase, officers found that the truck had been reported stolen in October. Police reports say there was a bicycle in the bed of the truck, along with a pressure washer and what appeared to be presents wrapped in Christmas paper. Inside the truck, officers found numerous electronics, bags, clothes, along with a handgun and ammunition.

When officers ran a DMV check, they found that the suspect had a suspended license and he wanted out of Horry County on other warrants.

Nineteen- year-old Brian Christopher Dix of Myrtle Beach was charged with driving under suspension, failure to stop for blue light and siren, possession of stolen vehicle and unlawful carry of a pistol.

He is currently being held at the J Reuben Long Detention Center.
