MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Police need the community’s help in bringing a killer to justice after a 78-year-old woman was shot while sitting in her daughter’s car in the Myrtle Beach Mall parking lot in broad daylight.
Lieutenant Raul Denis with Horry County Police says a call for a shooting came into officers around 12:30 p.m. Friday.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard says Frances May Davis, 78, of Little River, was found by her daughter, who had gone inside the Myrtle Beach Mall for no more than 15 minutes. When the victim’s daughter returned to the car from shopping, she discovered Davis slumped over in the passenger seat, bleeding from apparently being shot.
Davis was transported to Grand Strand Hospital where she died at 1 p.m. Friday from a gunshot wound, confirms Willard.
Davis was the mother of three, grandmother to five and great grandmother to seven children. She would have celebrated her 79th birthday Saturday.
