MYRTLE BEACH (WBTW) — Organizers for Myrtle Beach’s newest professional sports franchise will officially announce the arena football team at a press conference on Monday, according to officials with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.

In a press release from the chamber, Myrtle Beach Freedom owner Ronnie McCuin said, “The Myrtle Beach Freedom arena football team has been a vision for years and to see it become a reality is an incredibly exciting moment and is absolutely surreal.”

The Freedom will begin play at Myrtle Beach Convention Center in March 2016, according to the release.

The Freedom will host a press conference on Monday, July 6 at noon at the Sheraton, room 208, to make an official announcement and to give details about the upcoming Open House/”Pick Your Ticket Night” on Sunday, September 6.

The Freedom will play in the X-League, a two-year-old professional arena football team that currently has franchises in eight states, including a team in Fayetteville, the Cape Fear Heroes.
