On Tuesday, four Myrtle Beach firefighters were honored for helping a fellow firefighter who went into cardiac arrest while on the job.

Myrtle Beach City Council honored Thad Bowman, Josh McCarthy, Ryan Quader, and Cody Brown for saving Lt. Michael Beck’s life.

Beck suffered a severe cardiac event while fighting a structure fire around 1:30 p.m. on August 25, according to a video posted to the department’s Facebook page

“Due to the fast action of on scene crews and emergency care from Grand Strand Medical Center, Michael was brought back to life,” text from the video reads.

Beck and his wife thanked first responders in the video, with Beck saying he was comforted by knowing he was never left alone.

Text from the video also said Beck was expected to make a full recovery with no limitations.
