MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – More than a hundred people gathered to honor those killed and hurt in Charlottesville
Grand Strand Action Together held a candlelight vigil in Market Common’s Valor Park Sunday night. It was in remembrance of Heather Heyer, who died after a car drove through counter protesters during a white nationalist rally. Almost 20 others were also injured during the protests.
Speakers at the vigil called on people to unite and stand against any hatred. They also denounced President Trump’s response to the events in Charlottesville. Those who attended say they are shocked and disheartened by what’s happened this weekend and are calling on the government to take action. “The nightmare came true. These are things that many of us were afraid would happen and it needs to stop. And all of us need to speak up and say this is not acceptable,” said Linda Bianca.
