MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – As the campaign trail for the presidential run heats up, the City of Myrtle Beach reminds neighbors that there are guidelines to follow when it comes to placing political signs on different property.
Temporary political signs are allowed beginning 45 days before an election or primary and must be removed by the candidate or property owner within five days after the election or primary. However, political signs are not allowed on public property, public rights-of-way or utility poles.
There are also measurement requirements that must be met regarding the actual signage. Political signs cannot exceed four square feet in size and cannot be taller than four feet.
The signs are also prohibited from obstructing drivers’ vision at intersections. Myrtle Beach city staff will pick up illegally placed signs on public property.
