Coastal Carolina University’s music professor Jeffery Jones and his voice students will present a tribute to George and Ira Gershwin on Monday, Feb. 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Edwards Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
“Songs From The Heart: A Gershwin Tribute” will feature the melodies and lyrics of the Gershwin brothers, who composed some of the most memorable songs of the 20th century, as performed by voice students.
Students who will perform include: Brianne Campbell, Margaret Casella, Juliann Clark, Krista Gierlach, Emilee Hassanzadeh, Garrett McCann, Valerie McDougal, Ariel Minardi, Riley Phoenix, Naomi Schulman, Jason Sherman, Cameron Taylor, Carmen Williams, James Wilson and Caitlin Yarosz. Staff pianists will be Daniel Francis, Ann Miles and Rebecca Rollins. Jones will direct, and student Garrett McCann will stage direct.
The Recital Hall is in room 152 of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, located at 133 Chanticleer Drive W. on the Conway campus. Parking is available behind the building or adjacent at Brittain Hall.
