MURRELLS INLET, SC (WBTW) – A Murrells Inlet man is in jail after he reportedly beat and raped a woman early Monday morning.

An Horry County police report details how officers were called to what began as a domestic call at a home on White Church Street in Murrells Inlet just before 5 a.m. Monday morning. The victim told officers that a former boyfriend came into her home while intoxicated and started yelling about his vehicle being damaged by a bike.

The man, later identified as Kendrick Brown, 33, of Murrells Inlet, waved a gun around while threatening to kill the victim and her family. Brown then grabbed the 35-year-old woman by the throat and began hitting her in the back of the head, the report states.

Brown then forced the woman’s face into the bed so she couldn’t breathe and “forced himself on her.” The report goes on to say that Brown raped the victim on the bedroom floor and when police arrived, Brown was asleep in the bedroom where the attack occurred.

When police woke up Brown to get his side of the story, Brown said that whatever the victim told police was what happened. “After some resistance,” Brown was placed under arrest, the report says.

Brown is charged with criminal sexual conduct first degree, domestic violence high and aggravated nature, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 7:10 a.m. Monday and remains behind bars on a $60,000 bond at the time of this posting.
