Murrells Inlet man charged in veteran’s beating death 12 years ago at VFW

LAURENS, S.C. (AP) – Friends of a 76-year-old Army veteran beaten to death nearly 12 years ago at a VFW hall say they’re relieved that two people have been charged in the death.

WYFF-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1gvwrDa0) a man is charged with murder and a woman is charged because helped get rid of evidence in the 2003 death of James Bolt at the VFW in Laurens.

Bolt was robbed and beaten to death.

Three friends spent countless hours over the years handing out fliers that offered a reward.

One of them is Wayne Kinard, commander of the VFW where Bolt was killed. He says he cried on his wife’s shoulder after he learned of the arrests. And he says he wanted to see this case through to the end on his watch.
