LAKE CITY, SC (WBTW) – The Florence County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of an infant in Lake City Friday morning.
Lake City Police Chief Kipp Coker says police responded to the call around 2:30 a.m. Friday on Durant Street in Lake City.
According to a press release from Coroner Keith Von Lutcken, the mother found the infant unresponsive and EMS transported the baby from the home to the ER in Lake City where the child was pronounced dead.
The name of the baby has not been released and the coroner says an autopsy is scheduled for Sunday morning at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
SLED, Florence County Sheriff’s Office and Florence County Coroner’s Office are assisting with the investigation, Coker said.
