Motorcyclist dies after crash with car in front of St. James High

MURRELLS INLET, SC (WBTW) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol reports one death in the crash Friday evening in front of St. James High School.

The crash happened on Highway 707 at about 4:30 p.m., about eight miles south of Myrtle Beach. S.C.  

Trooper First Class Tyler Tidwell said the crash involved a 2003 Saturn sedan and a 2006 Harley Davidson. The driver of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet and was ejected from the motorcycle, Tidwell said.

The motorcycle was traveling south on 707. The car was leaving the high school and turning onto 707. The driver of the car then made contact with the motorcycle, Tidwell said.

The driver was transported to South Strand Hospital. Horry County police reported the driver died after the accident.

The driver of the sedan was a minor and was wearing a seatbelt, Tidwell reported. The driver was the only occupant in the car and was not injured.

No further information is available at this time on the person who died or the others involved.
