GARDEN CITY, SC (WBTW) – Maps from Santee Cooper show thousands of people in the Garden City area are experiencing power outages. Those same maps from the power company estimate that nearly 1,000 customers in the Myrtle Beach area are also without power.
The majority of the outages appear to be centered around the Wachesaw Plantation East Golf Club in Murrells Inlet and also on the north side of Pawleys Island. More than 1,000 people are also experiencing outages west of Highway 17 near Garden City. The maps also report 865 people in the Surfside Beach area are without power.
According to the map, crews are already out working to resolve the outages and they’re estimated to be fixed between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Monday.

The City of Georgetown says they may shut off power to Front Street, due to rising waters.
In an email from Jackie Broach, the Georgetown County Public Information Officer, officials with the city electric department announced they may have to de-energize the system on Front Street depending on how much water gets under the transformer.
The email also says if this step is necessary, the outage will begin around 2:15 to 2:20 p.m. and last for up to two hours, or until the water recedes enough to safely re-energize the area.
