Two moms have been charged after being accused of fighting a school police officer at a middle school in Augusta.

Surveillance video from Tuesday shows Kamisha Preston and Fanesia Smith in the school’s office where they confronted a school police officer.

The school system says the two women took out their frustrations on a school police officer after the outcome of a Glenn Hills Middle School disciplinary meeting. The video shows the officer trying to get the two women to calm down. Reports say Smith was being disruptive and using profanity.

The officer starts to escort her out of the office, where he says Smith became combative, so he grabbed her by the wrist. He says that’s when she kicked him, he pushed her away and then used pepper spray on her.

Preston follows them into the hall where the officer says she grabbed him from behind, he pushed her away and used his pepper spray on her too.

She fell to the floor. A picture from the scene shows Preston being taken away on a gurney.

This is not the first time these women have had a run in with this officer.

“This officer dealt with these same parents just two weeks ago where he was very understanding that they have children in the school,” said Alfonzo Williams, Richmond County Schools Chief of Police.

This time talking to them wasn’t enough.

Williams said, “Not only do we have to talk the talk, but walk the walk. That didn’t happen in this case.”

Dr. Bernard Chatman, Principle of Glenn Hills Middle School sent this statement, “After thorough review of yesterday’s incident, Richmond County School Safety and Security acted in accordance to department protocol to keep all students, staff, and administrators protected.”

The school system is waiting for a judge to decide if the parents will be allowed on campus again.

They both parents face disorderly conduct charges.
