ANDERSON CO., S.C.  – A baby was left at a grocery store Wednesday, according to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

They say the baby was found in a shopping cart around 3:20 p.m. in the foyer of Publix on Clemson Boulevard.

The baby is nine weeks old, according to Sheriff John Skipper.

They say the baby girl is okay and is now back with the mom.

Investigators determined from surveillance video and other sources that the mother did not leave her child intentionally.

Deputies say the mom didn’t realize she left the small baby until she got home and called them immediately.

The mom and baby are from Georgia.

Deputies did contact the Department of Social Services during the investigation. But, no charges will be filed.
