Mobile Simulation Laboratory to Provide Training at Carolinas Hospital System

FLORENCE, SC – As part of the educational component of the Supporting Vaginal Birth (SVB) initiative, the South Carolina Birth Outcomes Initiative (SCBOI) is providing simulation education training to the OBGYN physicians and perinatal nurses of Carolinas Hospital System as part of our effort to reduce C-sections in first-time, low-risk moms.

The SimCOACH™, the first mobile simulation laboratory in South Carolina and one of only eight in the nation, is hosting SVB training at Carolinas Hospital System on Wednesday, March 16 starting at 8:00 a.m.

This 90 minute team training session will simulate best practices to reduce the risk of non-medically necessary C-sections. Each session is videotaped and reviewed with the team after the simulation training.

This training will help labor and delivery teams:

The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) initiated and signed a two-year, 1.1 million dollar agreement with Palmetto Health to provide simulation education to OB/GYN physicians and perinatal nurses at each of the 45 birthing hospitals in the state through the SimCOACH™.
