BOLIVIA, NC (WBTW) –  According to a press release from the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Department Thursday, Shayla Bryant and her 1-year-old son were found and are safe. Dwight Powell turned himself in for questioning without incident.

Powell was charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling and his bond was set at $1 million Thursday afternoon.

According to a press release, Shayla Da’nia Bryant, 21, was last seen by her mother and grandfather at the scene of a shooting (no reported injuries) on Cedar Grove Road near the intersection of Stone Chimney Road on August 27.

Authorities said Bryant was likely in the company of Dwight Powell Jr., 28,  who is a person of interest in that shooting.

The two were last seen in Shayla’s black in color 2003 Honda Pilot bearing NC registration PCK4315 but are possibly in a gold in color 2006 Chevrolet Impala bearing NC registration BBS1087.

Dwight Powell is to be considered armed and dangerous and Shayla may be accompanying him against her will.

Most recent communications with Shayla by her family indicate that she is in South Carolina, but a specific location is not known.
