RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) – Raleigh police have confirmed that human remains recovered from a lake in December are those of a 2-year-old reported missing on Christmas Eve.

Local media outlets reported Tuesday that authorities had confirmed the remains found in December in a northern Wake County lake belong to Tristan Blue.

The boy’s father, Steven Blue, was arrested Christmas Day and charged with first-degree murder. His mother, Briana Dangerfield, has been charged with hiding facts about the boy’s death and helping his father get rid of the body. She also faces a misdemeanor child abuse charge.

Investigators have not said how the boy died but have said they think Tristan was killed at his home on Christmas Eve.
