WILMINGTON, N.C. – The 6-year-old North Carolina girl who went missing in Wilmington has been found alive.
New Hanover County Deputies say she was found in a wooded area just south of Wilmington. A witness on scene said authorities used a saw to cut her free from a tree.
According to a tweet from the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Department the little girl is doing well at a local hospital.
46-year-old Douglas Edwards of Wilmington is in custody in connection with the girl’s abduction. He’s charged with first-degree kidnapping and was picked up in New Hanover County Thursday morning.
Authorities said he’s a registered sex offender.
According to the Amber Alert website, Stefanny Lenneth Lopez-Castro was last seen at a mobile home park Wednesday at 4:50 p.m.
