NEW YORK (MEDIA GENERAL) — Melania Trump will become first lady when her husband, President-elect Donald Trump, takes office in January.
Here are some facts about the Slovenian born beauty:
She’s 46 years old
Melania was born on April 26, 1970 in Yugoslavia, making her 46 years old and 24 years younger than her husband. She’ll celebrate her 47th birthday in the White House.
She’s been a U.S. citizen for 10 years
Melania became a permanent resident of the United States in 2001 and a citizen in 2006.
She’s a former model
Melania began her modeling career at age 16. She worked as a model in Milan and Paris, before moving to New York City in 1996. In 2000, she appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and in 2006, she posed for Vogue while pregnant.
She met Trump in 1998
Melania met Donald Trump at a Fashion Week party in New York City in September 1998. At the time, Trump was still married to, but separated from, Marla Maples.
She married Trump in 2005
Donald and Melania got in engaged in 2004 and were married on January 22, 2005 in Palm Beach, Florida.
