Coastal Carolina University’s Wellness Coalition has scheduled a variety of activities for its annual Wellness Week, Feb. 16 through 20. Unless otherwise noted, events are free and open to the public.

The highlight of the week includes the Wellness Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Prince Lawn.

It will include activities and games, T-shirts, displays, free eating disorder screenings for students, music, contests, featured exhibitions from the Teal Temptation dance club, appearances by Chauncey, and chances for students to sample healthy snacks and win prizes. The rain date for the Wellness Fair is Friday, Feb. 20 at the same times and location.

The media are invited to cover the event.

Campus recreation will offer featured group exercise classes throughout the week, including yoga stress relief and relaxation, “butts and guts” exercise class, spinning and core classes, and a “crunch and punch” session, all at the HTC Center, Studio 2.

The Wellness Coalition consists of students, staff, faculty and community partners who have joined forces to promote healthy eating and a positive outlook on body image.

The coalition also works toward the prevention of negative influences that eating disorders and unhealthy dieting have on the lives of CCU students.

Other projects include the distribution of healthy, student-friendly recipes, ensuring nutritional alternatives at university events, and encouraging the display of nutritional information.
