MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Myrtle Beach police say they arrested one person on drug charges while they were investigating a shooting incident this weekend at Broadway at the beach.
Myrtle Beach police records show that 21-year-old Mckenzie Lee Ann Harley was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana Sunday.
According to the report from Myrtle Beach police, officers were called to Celebrity Circle in reference to a call about shots being fired Sunday around 2:20 a.m. The incident report says there were four different 911 calls reporting shots being fired near Landry’s, and dispatch said “people were running everywhere”.
When police arrived, the report says officers watched a group of security guards running after a red car. The security guards told police witnesses saw muzzle flashes coming from inside the red car and police tried to stop the vehicle.
The incident report says the driver refused to stop the car and even tried to drive over a median to get away before another police car blocked her in and officers took the driver into custody.
Police did not find anyone else in the car, but reported that they smelled marijuana in the vehicle. Officers conducted a search and located a joint and a plastic bag that contained a leafy green substance that tested positive for marijuana.
The report says when asked about the shooting incident, the woman told police she was talking to two men she met at a club and when she heard the shots she got scared and tried to drive away before being stopped by officers. The report also says Harley became uncooperative and changed her story and stated she didn’t talk to the two men until after the shooting had already happened.
Security officials with Broadway at the Beach told police that they had video footage of the shooting they would make available to investigators. The police report also says six shell casings were located at the scene and collected by crime scene investigators.
