MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The

Myrtle Beach Police Department recently acquired drones to assist with surveillance and investigations.
According to Lt. Joey Crosby, the department purchased two drones in
February, but cannot operate them outside of training exercises.
The unmanned aircrafts are registered with the FAA, but the department still needs a certificate of authorization to use them.
The drone has a retail price of $1,100.
Crosby told News 13 he will conduct a demonstration once they receive approval from the FAA.
It is not certain the department will be able to use the drones in time for the Memorial Day Weekend.
