South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Kendrick Wardell F. Plowden, 33 of Mayesville, S.C. on twelve counts involving the sexual exploitation of minors, and three separate counts of unlawful conduct towards a child. The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office made the arrest.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, a member of the S.C. Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, assisted in the investigation.
Investigators say Plowden was involved in sending child pornography via file sharing.
When authorities went to his home on March 12, 2015, they found three young children in unsanitary and deplorable conditions. Plowden is the children’s uncle.
Plowden was arrested and charged with twelve counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, second degree, a felony offense punishable by up to ten years imprisonment on each count. He was also charged with three counts of Unlawful Conduct Towards a Child , a felony offense punishable by up to ten years in prison and/or a fine set at the discretion of the court, on each count.
The children’s mother, Kimberly Plowden of Dalzell, S.C., was also charged with three counts of Unlawful Conduct Towards a Child , a felony offense punishable by up to ten years in prison and/or a fine set at the discretion of the court, on each count.
The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
