Matt Gittins is the weekend morning show anchor/weekday reporter. He joined WBTW in May 2015.
He began his TV career in Pocatello, Idaho where he worked for KPVI-TV for five years as well as in the sports information office at Idaho State University. While in the Gem State he held many different responsibilities including news anchor and reporter as well as covering sports. He covered everything from elections to high school football and of course the potato harvest.
Before moving into television Matt spent time in professional baseball and basketball. He called play-by-play for the Orem Owlz (rookie level affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim) and the Utah Flash (former NBA D-League affiliate of the Utah Jazz).
His hobbies including spending every moment he can with his best friend and wife. Matt says they are inseparable and luckily she agrees with him. They enjoy traveling together as well as going to different sporting events and theme parks. They also love anything related to Disney, in fact they were engaged in Disneyland when Matt surprised her by suddenly showing up to what was supposed to be a girls’ trip. He snuck up from behind her during a “photo opportunity” to pop the question in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle.
He graduated from Brigham Young University and is the second oldest in a family of 12 children.
