BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – The Marlboro Medical Complex in Bennettsville held an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday morning.

Community members came together in big numbers Saturday morning to tour the inside of the building and hear from those responsible for making it happen.

“What is special about this facility is that we will house orthopedic services here and general services here. Folks can come here for lab, for X-ray, our hospice will be operated out of here so it really will be a healthcare-complex for the community,” said Scotland Healthcare Systems CEO and President Gregory Wood.

“I hope that this community realizes that this medical complex is a treasure, it is truly a treasure to our county,” said Henegan.

There were also residents at the open house who have already used the services at the complex.

Henry Webb lives around the corner from the facility.

“I can walk down here ya know, when my appointment’s due and all that ya know, easy access, one block from Care South is where I stay,” said Henry Webb.

Phyllis Gregg lives in Bennettsville too. In fact, she lives next door to the building.

“It’s very nice. It’s a good feeling and we need it in the community,” Gregg said.

Since December 15, 2015 more than 600 patients have used the services at the Marlboro Medical Complex, according to Scotland Healthcare Systems.

Marlboro Family Practice and Urgent Care have relocated into the complex.

Scotland Regional Hospice has also relocated its office to Marlboro Medical Complex. Formerly known as Hospice of Scotland County, the agency recently changed its name to better reflect its scope of service outside Scotland County, North Carolina.

Hospice professionals and volunteers will address the medical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient and family. The agency serves patients and families who live in Marlboro, Dillon and Chesterfield counties. Call 910-276-7176.
