Sunday was the last day for the second annual Marlboro County Summerfest. The festival is a 3 day event full of entertainment and fun. One organizer says although its their second year hosting Summerfest. There is always room for improvement.

 “W
e’re still going to work on growing and getting better. It’s been a great weekend, everyone seems to be pleased. The crowd’s getting bigger and that’s what we want,” said Summerfest chairperson Jennie Dalton.

Senator Gerald Malloy and Doug Jennings started Summerfest six years ago after creating the Lake Paul Wallace Authority. Malloy says he is proud to see the numbers of community members involved this year.

 “W
e thought that this lake was a gem in the Pee Dee area and particular here in Marlboro County. We wanted to utilize it more. We put legislation together and obviously we ultimately got some funds set aside to end up coming in,” said Marlboro County Senator Gerald Malloy.

 F
or the first time in over 15 years Lake Paul Wallace welcomed a group of skiers to top off the end of its Summerfest festivities.

 “
The days, months and time got away from us, but we’re back again and just happy to be back. We brought some more friends with us and the ski team has been growing over the last couple of years,” says Becky Fox, Carolina Show Ski Team Director.

Wrapping up the last day of summerfest in a comfortable setting.

 “W
e think that this lake is the perfect venue for people to come out and be able to see this type of entertainment. We’re fortunate to have these talented performers here with us today and we think that there is more to come,” said Lake Paul Wallace Chairperson Doug Jennings.

The funds raised over the 3 day festival will help support the Marlboro County Arts Commission to keep the arts alive.
