BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help finding a man wanted for several crimes.
According to a press release, Nickolas Carter is wanted by the MCSO, Florence Police Department and the Florence County Sheriffs Office for a variety of burglary, larceny, weapons charges and failure to stop for a blue light.
On Wednesday, the MCSO responded to a burglary call and Carter is suspected in that case. SLED provided a tracking team and other manpower that began the search at a home on Summit Lane near Red Hill Road.
Deputies say Carter approached two different residents in that area attempting to get some help by saying he was looking for his dog. Later in the night during the search, Carter was spotted stealing a back hoe tractor on Highway 15-401 and was headed toward Society Hill.
He is described as 5’4″-5’7″ and 120-130 lbs. He may be looking for food,clothing, medical supplies, vehicle or anything he can drive away from the area.
When he was last seen he was not armed but please do not approach him and just call 911.
Deputies advise area residents to lock your doors on buildings, vehicles and secure property.
