Prison officials say a guard has been arrested on charges of trying to take drugs and other materials into a prison in South Carolina.
News outlets reported that William Shaquille Suggs of Bennettsville is charged with trying to take the drugs and materials into the Evans Correctional Institution in Marlboro County.
Suggs is accused of trying to bring in 40 oxycodone pills, 65 MDMA pills, 19 cigarettes and a lighter.
Investigators say they also found two vacuum-sealed bags containing synthetic marijuana when they searched Suggs’ car.
He is charged with misconduct in office, bringing or trying to bring contraband into prison, as well as drug possession charges. It was not known if Suggs has an attorney yet.
Evans Correctional is a medium-security prison that houses more than 1,200 male inmates.
