The country’s largest panel producer, located in Bennettsville, soon will take on another important job for the area.
Recently Marlboro County Council and economic development announced Arauco will invest $30 million to expand its Carolina Particle board facility.
The expansion will help the facility source a wide range of raw material.
More importantly, county leaders hope the move will expand the area’s business climate.
Marlboro County’s jobless rate is just under 9 percent, still above the state average which is just over 6 percent.
The project is expected to create 20 to 25 jobs.
