BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – Marlboro County deputies arrested a Dillon County man who is accused of ATM thefts.

The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office arrested Eddie Scarborough, Jr., 51, according to a press release from the MCSO. His arrest is the “result of an investigation into two convenient store burglaries” that happened in Bennettsville in January 2019.

Scarborough is accused of cutting power at the Pic N Pay convenience store on Jan. 14 “before using his vehicle to forcefully open the front doors of the business,” the release said. He allegedly entered the store and stole an ATM machine from the business.

He is accused “of the similar actions at another Bennettsville convenience store two weeks after this first burglary,” the release also said. The MCSO says investigators “were able to collect video surveillance data, physical evidence from the crime scenes, and other evidence that placed Scarborough at each crime scene during each burglary.”

Scarborough was arrested in Dillon County on Tuesday after a traffic stop, according to the release. He is being held at the Marlboro County Detention Center pending a bond hearing for “two counts of burglary 2nd degree and two counts of grand larceny; more than $2,000 less than $10,000.”

Scarborough is reportedly wanted by two other counties for similar offenses and will be extradited after bonding out in Marlboro County.
