Marion’s Johnson leaving for Lake Marion

MARION (WBTW) – Marion football head coach Leonard Johnson was named the new head coach of Lake Marion today, District Athletic Director Leon Sturkey confirmed Tuesday.

Johnson had been head coach at Marion since 2013. In his first year as head coach, the Swamp Foxes had only one win. But the team gradually improved over the next few seasons. The Swamp Foxes won five games in his second year and eight last year including a trip to the Lower State Championship game before losing to Silver Bluff.

Johnson takes over a Lake Marion team that made it to the Class 2A Division I Lower State Championship game last season.
