MARION, SC (WBTW) – The Marion Police Department says an arrest has been made in a 5-month string of car thefts from various dealerships and homes.

According to Marion Police Chief Tony Flowers, officers arrested Davonta Suton Bethea, 21, of Marion on Monday. Chief Flowers says Bethea is suspected in a string of motor vehicle thefts that occurred between January 30 and May 29. Police say Bethea stole eight vehicles from various homes and a dealership. 

Officers attempted to capture Bethea on two previous occasions, but he eluded arrest, adds Chief Flowers.

Bethea is charged with eight counts of grand larceny, two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle, three counts of failure to stop for a blue light, and one count of resisting arrest. He is currently being held at the Marion County Detention Center on $42,000 bond.
