GIBSON, NC (WBTW) – A man wanted for a 2015 shooting and robbery in Scotland County was arrested Sunday during a traffic stop in Georgia.
The Scotland County Sheriff’s Office says Edward Charles Steele was arrested in Covington, GA during a traffic stop by the Newton County Sheriff’s Office. Steele had outstanding warrants out of Scotland County for robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Sheriff Ralph Kersey says Steele was wanted by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office for a robbery and shooting that occurred in Gibson on July 11, 2015. Steele had been classified as a wanted suspect since July 15, 2015.
Scotland County deputies traveled to Covington, GA to take Steele into custody Tuesday.
