SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. – A man is under arrest for attempting to kidnap a 5-year-old boy from a Chick-Fil-A restaurant in Spartanburg County.
Toy Gibson Williams, 34, faces that charge from the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office after an incident that happened on April 8th.
Deputies responded to the Chick-Fil-A located on Highway 9 in reference to the attempted kidnapping. When deputies arrived they spoke with the child’s grandmother and she says that Williams tried to carry the child out of the restaurant and leave with him, deputies say.
The grandmother says that the restaurant manager, staff, and other customers were able to stop Williams before he left the parking lot. They were able to recover the child, according to the incident report.
