LUMBERTON, NC – The Lumberton Police Department reports a train hit a man walking on railroad tracksThursday night. It happened just before midnight on the tracks over the river between Elm Street and MLK Drive in Lumberton.
Captain Terry Parker says a CSX train struck and killed Ken Shawn Pope. He was 39 years old.
Police don’t suspect anything suspicious, but anyone with information on this investigation should contact Detective Sgt. Charles Leavitt at the Lumberton Police Department at 910-671-3845.
