A man stole a woman’s car in Carolina Forest Thursday afternoon and led police on a chase that involved a crash and manhunt in Myrtle Beach, authorities say.
The incident started at 2:23 pm when a woman left her car running at a gas station in Carolina Forest.
A man then jumped in the car and sped off.
Horry County Police caught up with the car thief in downtown Myrtle Beach, which is when the chase started.
The man crashed into another vehicle at 2:51 pm at US 501 at Seaboard Street, but the man kept driving in the stolen car.
The chase continued for some time, but the man eventually got out of the car and ran from police. A photo from a News13 showed a police SUV that ended up stuck in a ditch.
The suspect was finally caught by 4 pm in the area of Stuart Square and Pine Island Road, authorities said.
