CHERAW, SC (WBTW) – A fight outside a Cheraw apartment complex resulted in a deadly stabbing Wednesday morning.
Cheraw Police Chief Keith Thomas says officers were called to the Greystone Apartment Complex on Agerton St. around 5:27 a.m. Wednesday morning for a disturbance. When officers arrived, they found Damien Kinta Johnson lying on the ground near a vehicle, covered in blood.
Police say an argument between Johnson and the suspect, Brandon Joshua Sellers, led to a fight. During the fight, Sellers pulled out a knife and stabbed Johnson several times, police say.
Johnson was taken to McLeod Health Cheraw Emergency Department where he later died, confirms Chief Thomas.
Sellers is charged with murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
