MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Myrtle Beach police charged a man with burglary, kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct and assault and battery after investigators matched DNA from a glove recovered at the scene.

Lt. Joey Crosby says Robert Lee Myers, 42, is currently being held at the J Reuben Long Detention Center.

On Aug. 18, police responded to a home on 7th Avenue North for a sexual assault and home invasion, police reports say. The victim told police that she walked out on her porch to turn off a light around 2 a.m. when a man rushed by her with a knife.

The report says the suspect assaulted her with his fist, threatened to kill her, then sexually assaulted her. The man tied the woman up with electrical cords, demanded property and went through her purse and wallet, stealing her personal items.

After taking the victim’s belongings, the suspect untied her, poured Clorox on her, “demanding that she scrub her body with it”.

The report says that after the suspect took the victim’s keys and went outside to look through her car, the woman was able to escape, naked, and run to police officers in the area.

The police report says the victim’s brother was sleeping at the time and didn’t hear anything until police were already on the scene.

Investigators say that they recovered a pair of gloves stolen from the home which the suspect put on during the incident. Police were able to pull a DNA sample from the gloves and positively match it to Robert Lee Myers Jr.
