MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Myrtle Beach police are searching for a man who robbed a local restaurant and forced employees inside a cooler at gunpoint.

According a police report, the incident happened Saturday morning around 4:40 a.m. at the Hardee’s restaurant on South Kings Highway. The suspect “racked his gun” as he walked across the parking lot towards the manager who entering the store, a witness said.

The robber then forced the manager and another worker to their knees and demanded they open the safe and empty the registers, the report said.

The robber grabbed the female employee’s arm and dragged her closer to the safe while waiting for it to open.

The employees put around $1,500 into a Bank of America bag before being forced into a walk-in cooler and locked inside, the report said.

They later were able to free themselves and call police.

The suspect was wearing gloves and a mask during the robbery along with a gray hoodie.  He is described as a black male, 30-40 years old, 5’11”-6’3″ tall and weighed 220-250 pounds.
