LUMBERTON, NC (WBTW) – The Lumberton Police Department is investigating a bank robbery Thursday morning.

According to a press release, the incident happened around 9 a.m. at the Select Bank and Trust at 4400 Fayetteville Road.

Police say a male suspect armed with a handgun came inside and demanded money.

The suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money in a white Cadillac Escalade.

Moments later, officers stop a vehicle on Roberts Avenue near  I-95, the released stated.

Officers then arrested Brian Lewis Jones, age 46, and charged him with robbery with a dangerous weapon, six counts of second degree kidnapping and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Police said Jones had two addresses on him. One address is Benilli Street Sumter SC, and Prince Street in Grand Rapids MI.

Police say no one was hurt at the bank or during the traffic stop.

Jones’ bond was set at $500,000 and he is currently being held at the Robeson County Detention Center.
