CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson announced Thursday a North Carolina man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for armed robbery and gun charges.
Don Sherrill Maness III, 21, of Supply, N.C., pleaded guilty to armed robbery and possession of a sawed-off shotgun stemming an incident that occurred on Dec. 20, 2015,the press release said. Maness was arrested the following day in the case.
Police say it happened in a car while two people were waiting for someone who was inside a home on Edwards Road. The victim told police the man in the backseat–whom he said he’d never met before–pulled out a gun and demanded his wallet and an iPhone.
When he refused, the victim said the man with the gun hit him in the side of the head with the gun. He gave over the wallet that had cash and credit cards, along with the phone.
Circuit Court Judge Larry Hyman sentenced Maness to 15 years in prison for the armed robbery charge and 10 years for the weapon charge. The sentences will run concurrently, the judge said. Maness must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence before he is eligible for parole, Richardson said.
