FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – A Lake City man was arrested over the weekend after deputies say he kidnapped a woman at a bar and threatened to kill her if she didn’t perform a sex act.

According to a press release from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested Shamaine Martrell Roberson, 29 on Saturday and charged him with kidnapping, grand larceny, possession of a firearm by convicted felon and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Investigators say Roberson forced a woman against her will at gunpoint into her vehicle in the parking lot of a bar at 104 West Kansas Drive in Florence Saturday night. Roberson then drove the woman away and threatened to kill her if she did not perform a sex act.

At some point during the incident the victim escaped the vehicle on John Paul Jones Road and was later able to call 911 from a nearby residence.  The victim was then transported to an area hospital for injuries sustained during her escape.

Roberson was later found and arrested. He is being held at the Florence County Detention Center without bond.
