The Gaffney Police Department responded to a call Wednesday afternoon involving a driver who was shot and found dead in his car behind a bank in Gaffney.
According to Officer Richard Turner the call came in at 6:15 p.m. for a shooting at the First Piedmont Bank on North Granard Street.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound slumped over the steering wheel of a car.
Turner says the victim apparently crashed into a pole about — a block from where the shooting happened — on Cemetery Alley.
WHNS-TV reported the man was shot in his car and continued to drive until he died. Cemetery Alley runs behind the bank, where the man was found dead.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS responders.
Turner said that dogs were brought in to search for a scent and that officers are still investigating the case.
