CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Charleston Police Department is investigating following the death of a Florida man at a Charleston strip club.
Authorities say on Monday, May 2 at about 11:58 p.m., officers responded to Stilettos Gentlemen’s Club. We’re told when officers arrived, they found David Lacz, 56, of Florida, lying on the ground, on his back, with a large pool of blood around his head. Officers say he was breathing and appeared to be snoring.
A bouncer told authorities when he saw Lacz entered the club, he appeared to be “drunk, or high, and he believed that the victim should not have been let into the business,” according to an incident report.
While inside, we’re told the victim started to circle the bar and was banging his hand on the bar. At one point, he grabbed the arm of the bartender, puller her across the bar by her arm, and licked her hand. After licking her a second time, he was asked to leave the establishment.
A short time later, a large group arrived and the victim snuck into the business with the group. Lacz was escorted out a second time. After being off the property, the victim was told not to return. We’re told at this point, Lacz became belligerent and rushed the bouncer. The bouncer then put up his arms to defend himself and pushed the victim off of him. Lacz then stumbled backwards, fell back down a slight slope, and landed on his head, the incident report added.
Medics transported Lacz to the Medical University of South Carolina. He never regained consciousness.
Emergency personnel told authorities that Lacz did not have any other injuries and there were no other signs of a physical altercation.
He was never served alcohol at Stilettos because of his state of being. The coroner’s office said he died as a result blunt head trauma.
