LUMBERTON, N.C. (AP) – The man convicted of killing Michael Jordan’s father in North Carolina in 1993 and dumping his body in South Carolina is again asking for a new trial, citing misconduct by police, prosecutors and jurors.
Multiple media outlets reported that 40-year-old Daniel Green was in court in Lumberton on Wednesday, saying he did not kill James Jordan but only helped dump the body in a Marlboro County, South Carolina, swamp.
Investigators said Jordan was shot to death along U.S. 74 near Lumberton.
Green is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
His lawyers say he was at a gathering with Larry Demery, who asked for Green’s help with disposing the body. Demery was later convicted and also was sentenced to life in prison.
