Man charged with attempted murder in connection to Lake City shooting in May

Lake City Police have arrested a man they believe to be responsible for a shooting that happened in May in Lake City.

According to Lake City Police Chief Kipp Coker, James Darnel Herd was arrested Saturday in connection to a shooting on May 15.

Chief Coker told News13 that Herd allegedly pulled up to a Silver Chevy Malibu on the corner of Durant Drive and Spruce Street around 7:30 p.m. that night, pulled out a gun and fired into the car. 

Herd faces three counts of attempted murder as well as other charges. he remains in the Florence County Detention Center tonight.
