A man has been charged with assault after punching a security officer at a club in Broadway at the Beach.

A police report from the Myrtle Beach Police Department says officers responded to a club at 1320 Celebrity Circle around 2 a.m. on Saturday for an assault. Upon arriving, officers met with Broadway at the Beach security and the suspect, identified in the report as Brandon Michael Outz, 23.

Outz told police he had an altercation with the victim, a 26-year-old male security officer, and hit him, according to the report.

Officers also spoke with a witness, who said he saw the incident, the report says. This witness stated to police Outz “sucker punched” the victim after being asked to leave the club.

According to the report, the victim says security escorted Outz out of the club because of an incident inside. Outz reportedly tried to re-enter the club and when the victim told Outz he wasn’t welcome back, Outz punched the victim in the face and began “charging at him,” the report also says. The victim swung back at the offender “in an effort to not be continually assaulted.”

Another witness confirmed the stories of the victim and the other witness, the report states. Outz was arrested and taken to the Myrtle Beach Jail.

MBPD P2C records show Outz is charged with third degree assault and battery.
