LONGS, SC (WBTW) – A Horry County man was jailed this weekend after someone says they saw him pour gas into a home and set it on fire.
Antron Temere Vereen,36, was arrested by Horry County police Sunday and charged with second degree arson. Booking records confirm he is still being held at the J Reuben Long Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
Horry County Fire Rescue says they responded to a single-wide trailer fire at 950 Smiley Lane in Longs Saturday around 11:40 p.m. When firefighters arrived on scene, they say the home was fully involved with fire. A tweet from Horry County Fire Rescue confirms no one was hurt and no one was inside at the time of the fire.
The report from police says they were called to investigate upon the request of Horry County Fire Rescue around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
The victim told police she saw Vereen “take the gas jug to the house that burned, pour gas into the house and set it on fire,” according to the report.
A witness also says they saw Vereen walk out of the house right before they heard a loud boom and realized the house was on fire.
