MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Police in Myrtle Beach say a man broke his mother’s walking cane and assaulted her when she asked him why he got home late.
According to the incident report, Myrtle Beach police were called to a home on 14th Avenue Sunday night in reference to an assault.
The victim told police she confronted her son for coming home at 4 a.m. when she believed he would be done working at midnight.
According to the incident report, Dackota Scott Settle, 25, reacted violently and punched his mother in the face.
A witness was able to get the suspect into another room but was unable to contain him there.
Settle is reported to have then continued the assault on his mother, broke her walking cane, and twisted her left ankle and leg, which has metal rods. The report indicates the victim has surgical scarring on her left knee.
Settle is also accused of breaking her new smartphone when she threatened to call police.
Settle was arrested and charged with damage to property and assault and battery 3rd degree.
